Northern Energy Capital (NEC) is pleased to announce our participation in Environment and Climate Change Canada's Net-Zero Challenge. This is a voluntary initiative that encourages businesses to develop and implement credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Getting Canada to net-zero emissions by 2050 will require collaboration and innovation from all sectors, and NEC is proud to help lead the way in acting with greater transparency and urgency when it comes to tackling climate change solutions.

In addition to our pledge, NEC is also supporting Canada's journey to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 through our work developing wind and solar energy projects, as well as battery storage solutions, in Canada's remote and northern communities.

“Wind and solar energy are affordable and abundant and will provide much of the new electricity Canada needs as it doubles electricity production in support of its efforts to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050,” said Robert Hornung, President and CEO of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association.

“Energy-storage technologies are a critical tool in supporting the reliability of the future electricity grid,” Hornung added, “as we work to maximize the contribution of low-cost wind and solar energy production.”
