Northern Energy Capital

At Northern Energy Capital (NEC), we are dedicated to leading by example in the clean energy transition. A year ago, we made a significant commitment towards a sustainable future by joining Environment and Climate Change Canada's Net-Zero Challenge. This ambitious initiative calls on organizations nationwide to take definitive steps towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, aligning with the global effort to mitigate climate change and transition towards a greener economy.
One year later, we are excited to share our progress and the actions NEC has taken on our journey to net-zero 2050. As part of our commitment, we've completed the first major milestone by submitting a Preliminary Net-Zero Plan to Environment and Climate Change Canada as part of our Challenge Participation Checklist.
Key Insights from NEC's Net-Zero Plan:
2023 Emissions: 15 tCO2e, primarily from Scope 3 (indirect sources)
Strategic Targets:
2030: Aim for a 25% reduction in emissions, focusing on IT and office waste management.
2040: Target a 35% reduction in Scope 3 emissions through operational improvements and sustainable procurement.
2050: Strive for net-zero by balancing emission reductions with strategic offsets.
